This is a semi-integrated vehicle powered by a diesel engine with a displacement of 3.0 cm3 and 140 hp, with a timing chain. The 3.0 dCi engine designated ZD3 (136 hp / 140 hp), fitted in the 2008 Renault Master, is a highly regarded, durable and sought-after unit, ideal for heavy-bodied vehicles such as motorhomes. Crucially, it should not be confused with the faulty 3.0 V6 dCi engine (P9X by Isuzu) used in Renault passenger cars. The engine in the Master is a 4-cylinder Nissan design regarded as virtually indestructible. No dual-mass flywheel and no DPF:

Versions from this model year generally did not have a diesel particulate filter or a complicated dual-mass clutch, which drastically reduces the cost of any potential repairs.
