Challenger 192 | Ford Transit 2.4 Turbo Diesel | Year 2000

Hello. I am selling a Challenger 192 based on a Ford Transit.

Key information

• Price: 70,000 PLN with the electrical system described. 55,000 PLN without the electrical system (with the cheaper option).

Equipment and upgrades

We bought this Motorhome in the summer of last year and then thoroughly prepared it for the road.

Inside there is a new, high-quality fridge which works perfectly in all modes (gas, 12V, 220V).

We have also installed:

• 900 W of solar panels
• New 625 Ah LiFePO4 battery
• New, powerful inverter

The entire electrical system responsible for charging the leisure battery has been replaced. AC-DC and DC-DC chargers – everything was bought new.

The standard Truma water heater has been serviced – it heats the water and air very well (gas heater).

As support on frosty days, we installed a diesel parking heater (so-called Webasto): it heats the Motorhome more quickly after a cold night and maintains warmth very well even in below-zero temperatures.

Before a long trip, I replaced all 6 tyres with new winter tyres.

The following have also been fitted:

• More powerful alternator
• New starter motor
• New starter battery

All these modifications make the Motorhome highly self-sufficient. In practice, you only need to top up or drain the water and empty the toilet.

Water system and toilet

The fresh-water tank has a capacity of 120 litres, and there are also two 80-litre grey-water tanks.

The sale includes two toilet cassettes, which is very convenient when wild camping and during long stays.

Starlink and gas system

There is a mount for Starlink Mini on the roof, together with all the wiring necessary to power the device.

The gas bottle can be refilled at any service station in Europe. A GasBank system with filters is installed.

Living area

In the living area, there are effectively two work tables which convert into berths, as well as a large overcab bed.

The Motorhome is spacious and has plenty of storage: the two of us plus a dog lived, worked and travelled in it very comfortably.

Technical details

Now for the technical details.

The average fuel consumption on any road is approximately 10–11 litres of diesel.

Gearbox – manual.

I do not consider this a disadvantage, because reliability was the most important factor for me when choosing a Motorhome.

The 2.4 engine has a timing chain, not a belt, which suits me very well because there is no need to replace a rubber belt every 30,000 kilometres.

Technically, there are no problems.

The oil will need changing in spring, and it would be worth checking the brakes – after 30,000 kilometres on various roads, it is time to replace the brake pads.

What are the disadvantages?

The Motorhome is not new and has already travelled many thousands of kilometres.

The main disadvantage is its exterior appearance.

At some point in France, someone failed to fit under a height restriction, leaving marks and dents on the overcab section.

The previous owners, who brought it to Poland for resale, renovated the interior.

After buying it, I carefully sealed all the corners and windows to protect the structure and make sure it remained watertight.

Some windows are suitable for replacement (they have cracks), but they are fully functional and do not let moisture through!

Price and negotiation

That is probably everything I can describe in the advert.

The price includes everything currently installed as part of the electrical system.

If you would like to negotiate, reasonable negotiation is possible, but this would involve options with the electrical system exchanged for a cheaper one.

Travel history

If I do not sell this Motorhome by spring, I will set off on the road in it again.

It took us through the whole of Spain and Portugal, showed us Norway, Sweden and Finland, and safely brought us back to Poland.

We like this home on wheels very much, but we have decided that it is time to plan our own home, so that we have a base for further travels.

If that does not work out, we will simply continue travelling.
