Buying guide

How do I choose a camping trailer?

Match the caravan's permissible total weight (MTPLM) to your car's towing limit and your driving licence: a category B licence covers car-and-trailer combinations up to 3.5 t, B96 or B+E allow more. Single-axle caravans are lighter and easier to manoeuvre, twin-axle ones tow more stably at higher weights. Before buying, check for damp, the age of the running gear and the condition of the drawbar and brakes.

How much does a camping trailer cost in Poland?

Prices vary widely with size, age and equipment, so no single figure is honest. The band above shows the current median asking price computed from active CamperTrader listings, and the full price report breaks values down by segment and year of manufacture. Caravans are generally the cheapest entry into camping tourism — clearly below campers of a similar age.

Should I buy or rent a caravan?

Renting makes sense for a first trip or an occasional holiday — you avoid storage and maintenance between seasons. Buying pays off when you camp several times a year or leave the caravan on a seasonal pitch. Remember to include parking, insurance and servicing in the total cost of ownership.

Which segment fits you?

SegmentBest forListings

Bigger families and long stays — more space, more stable towing0
Low height — less drag when towing and fits a standard garage0
Occasional trips — folds flat for storage, tent comfort on a budget0
Maximum living space — check towing limits and licence class0
Pickup owners — apartment-scale space on a gooseneck coupling0
Stationary use on a plot or a seasonal campsite pitch0
Off-road towing behind a 4x4 — expedition gear and rooftop tents0

Glossary

MTPLM (permissible total weight)
The maximum permitted weight of the caravan including its load. It must fit within your car's towing limit and your driving-licence category.
Kerb weight
The weight of the empty caravan. The difference between the permissible total weight and the kerb weight is your real payload for luggage, water and equipment.
Tow hitch and drawbar
The drawbar connects the caravan to the car's tow ball, and the nose weight pressing on the hitch affects towing stability. Both have rated limits that must be respected.
Awning
A canvas annexe attached to the side of the caravan that adds a covered living space on the campsite. Its size is matched to the length of the awning rail.
